For Individuals Wanting To Become A Certified American Red Cross Instructors

This  American Red Cross will train instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross Basic Life Support courses.

Prerequisites: Students must possess a current Basic Life Support Certicication from the American Red Cross or another accepted organization: American Heart Association, National Safety Council, ASHI, ECSI, or Canadian Red Cross (please verify if you are not sure) and be at least 16 years of age on the last day of the instructor course. This is a blended learning course consisting of online content, a pre-course skill session and classroom segments. Online material must be completed prior to attending the classroom activities. You will receive the link to the pre-course work information two prior to your class.  There is minimal work required (approx 1-2 hours) before class which involves watching a very short video. 

Upon registration, it is important that you review and follow the directions in the e-mail attachment sent with your registration confirmation. 

Instructor Training Course Overview

In order to complete the course, students must arrive with prerequisites complete and be in attendance from start to finish of the training. Instructor candidates will also need to successfully demonstrate teaching techniques discussed in the class during mandatory practice-teaching sessions. There is a mandatory written test, which must be passed with a score of 80% or better. Course completion provides a certification as an Instructor good for 2 years.
